Chapter 32: Dealing with a Mistress
Translator: Tuiwen Editor: Tuiwen
Lin Qing had invested a lot into her relationship with Zhu Wentao. She had gone through countless hardships in the beginning. But now that things at the company were stable, it could be said that she was living a very comfortable life as a rich lady now. However, as she watched the young woman walk out of the bedroom, she knew all her work had toppled just like that.
She had always trusted Zhu Wentao. She had known this man since she was young. The two of them shared many joys and sorrows together. It was no ordinary relationship. Later on, after he became wealthy, Zhu Wentao remained the same and did not develop any bad habits of rich people. He would never fool around outside. Whenever he was involved in social engagements, he would always come home at the end of the day and never spend the night outside. Other rich ladies were all jealous of her having such a good husband who loved her dearly and kept himself out of trouble.
But Lin Qing was no fool. All this time, she had been very careful and did not give Zhu Wentao an opening. She did not expect when she was not watching, he would go behind her back and have an affair with some other woman.
She was so busy with Ming Jing’s affairs that she was completely caught off guard when the young woman appeared in Zhu Wentao’s office. If she had focused all her energies on her family, none of this would’ve happened.
This was another mark against Ming Jing. Lin Qing took note of this in her heart.
At this very moment, when she caught sight of this woman, Lin Qing felt a chill run up and down her spine. There was no need for further interrogation. There was no doubt in her mind that this woman was a mistress and a mistress of high-rank at that.
The woman was very young. Her face was full of youth and she was dressed in a white suit and skirt. Her figure was petite with graceful curves. Her long hair was tied up and two wisps of hair hung from her temples. Her eyebrows were thin, her eyes were almond-shaped, and her skin was pearl-white against her red lips. Though her appearance was too stunning at first sight, there was a special kind of gentleness and beauty on her. It was a rather kind of refreshing beauty.
Lin Qing looked her up and down a few times as if she was studying a commodity. With her lips curled, she asked, “You’re Secretary Zhou, right?”
The woman quickly tried to smooth things over and said in a gentle and calm voice, “Madam, please have a seat. The President is at a meeting. It probably won’t take long. You just need to wait for a bit.”
Lin Qing made her way to the sofa in her high heels and had a seat. She pointed to a spot on the opposite side and said, “Sit down. We need to talk.”
Secretary Zhou headed over to the bar and asked softly, “Madam, do you want anything to drink?”
“Anything is fine.”
Secretary Zhou poured her a cup of flower tea and brought it over to Lin Qing. Lin Qing picked up the cup and tossed it directly on the young woman’s face. Wearing a vicious smile, she then said, “You serve me this cheap flower tea? Are you out of your mind?”
Secretary Zhou stood there without moving, and it took her a few minutes to calm down. Taking a tissue to slowly wipe her face, she said in no apparent rush, “I wonder what I did to have offended Madam?”
Lin Qing felt her heart sinking in her chest. The woman did a good job of appearing composed. She did not appear angry at all. At that instant, Lin Qing realized that she was not faced with an ordinary opponent.
“We are both grown-ups. Let’s get right to it. How long have you two been fooling around together?” Lin Qing spoke matter-of-factly. There was no point dilly-dallying with such a smart woman in front of her.
Secretary Zhou wiped the water dripping down her face little by little. The tea was a little hot, and the hot water ended up scathing her a little, causing a blush to show up on her face. This actually gave her a rather seductive air that could easily entice one’s soul.
Lin Qing’s eyes were filled with a fiery rage. But she suppressed her hatred, trying to make herself look like she didn’t care about any of this at all.
“Madam, I don’t know what you are talking about,” the woman said with a smile on her face all the while shaking her head back and forth. She made Lin Qing a second cup of flower tea and set it in front of her.
“Although this cheap flower tea is not worthy enough to touch Madam’s lips, like they say, when in Rome, do as the Romans do. Madam, with this all we’ve got, please make do with this flower tea for now.”
‘Make do with this? You, the mistress, are telling me to just make do with it? I, Lin Qing, do not have the words ‘Make do’ in my vocabulary.’ Lin Qing gritted her teeth and thought inwardly.
It was to her understanding that this woman could withstand all sorts of things, even wind and fire, and that it would be useless to say too much. She would get to the bottom of this. There was no way possible she would stand down from this battle.
She regretted having impulsively shown up today and alerting the enemy of her presence. If she could go back in time, she would change how she went about things. From now on, she would be more careful.
…
Making her way out of the building, Lin Qing drew in a deep breath. From this point on, her time of peace and comfort was over. The fight had now begun.
She had no time yet to indulge herself and cry. She had more important things to do at hand.
Taking out a phone, she found her contact and dialed their number. “I want you to help me investigate a person. I need to know everything about her, everything! I don’t care about the money — you’ll get as much as you want. Just get things done.”
…
Hearing that Grandma Zhu was sick, Zhu Wenjie brought over Zhou Ying to visit her. But she did not bring any presents with her. Seeing this, Nanny Zhou pursued her lips. This daughter always came empty-handed when she came to visit, and she always came for a purpose.
Grandma Zhu didn’t want to see her. There was a saying that daughters were their mother’s caring little cotton-padded jacket. But Zhu Wenjie was an exception; she was a trouble-maker ever since young, so Grandma Zhu simply couldn’t be bothered to see her.
Under the excuse that she was here to help looking after Grandma Zhu, Zhou Ying brought Zhou Ying over and they both went to stay at the Zhu family home. There were several nannies around and a chauffeur to drive them everywhere they went. She never even had to lift a finger. Zhu Wenjie spent the entire day curled up on the sofa watching TV until her eyes got tired.
Zhou Ying decided to explore Zhu Xiangxiang’s room. Though she pretended they were on good terms, she was, in fact, very envious of her cousin when she saw Zhu Xiangxiang’s closet packed to the brim with clothes.
Zhu Xiangxiang appeared very generous to her cousin on the surface. She let her pick whatever outfit she wanted and let her try it on. But on the inside, all she wanted to see was her ill-kempt body and hear how much she sucked up to her.
“Cousin Xiangxiang, is Cousin Ming Jing home?” Zhou Ying asked in a curious voice.
“I think so. Why?”
“I’m going to head out to spend some time with Cousin Ming Jing.” After she said that, she flew away like a cheerful bird.
Zhu Xiangxiang burst out laughing. She really wanted to see how Ming Jing would handle herself around this annoying cousin of theirs, so she curiously followed her to find Ming Jing.
“Cousin Ming Jing, Cousin Ming Jing. I’m here! Come out and play.” Zhou Ying knocked on the door a few times and called out Ming Jing’s name loudly, like a woman hawking wares at the market.
When she heard her loud voice, Xiao Ying walked out of the laundry room and kindly told her, “Miss Zhou, Miss Ming Jing doesn’t like too much noise. Could you please lower your voice?”
Zhou Ying rolled her eyes at her. “It’s none of your business! This is my grandmother’s house so this makes this my home as well. I can do whatever I want here. How dare a servant like you find fault in me?”
Xiao Ying started to pout and left with her head bowed down.
Zhou Ying knocked on the door for a long time, but there was still no answer.
When she saw that no one was coming to the door, Zhou Ying went up to Zhu Xiangxiang angrily and said, “Cousin Xiangxiang, you must be lying to me. Cousin Ming Jing is obviously not home.”
Zhu Xiangxiang said, “Oh really? Then I must’ve been mistaken.”
She had forgotten that when Ming Jing did not want to deal with someone, nothing could make her come to the door even if they tore the whole house down.
When Lin Qing got back, she was met with the sight of Zhu Wenjie spread out on the sofa, chewing on melon seeds while watching a soap opera on the TV. Beer bottles filled every corner of the coffee table.
When she saw that it was Lin Qing, Zhu Wenjie lifted her eyes and said, “Oh, sister-in-law just got back. It must have been a busy day for you. Have a seat. Nanny Zhou, please bring her some tea.”
The way she arrogantly went about things, making it seem like she was the lady of the house and not Lin Qing.
Lin Qing was enraged and had no proper outlet to channel her anger. This Zhu Wenjie just gave her a good reason to vent her anger. Lin Qing took a basin of water from the kitchen and threw every drop in Zhu Wenjie’s direction.
Zhu Wenjie leaped in a hurry and screamed out loud, “What the hell do you think you’re doing?”
Lin Qing pointed in the direction of the door. “Get lost now..”
