Chapter 12: You’ll Be Scared

Lydia was very regretful. She shouldn’t have come. She should have just changed her phone number instead.
Julie thought that Lydia would thank her, with a smug look on her face, she said, “So how do you feel about this? This old man won’t be able to live for long. At most ten years. You only have to marry him and endure for ten years, and his family’s property will be yours. Although his assets are not worth as much as the Dunbar Family’s, he’s the best for you given your poor status. I’ve tried my best.”
Lydia did not even bother to show her disgust and resentment. She just walked straight out.
Julie quickly chased after her. “Stop right there! What kind of attitude is this?”
Just as she walked out of the side hall, she ran into Edna. Edna screamed out of inexplicable fear and then pointed at Lydia and shouted, “Oh my God! What a big rat, what a big, dirty, smelly rat! Jude, get a broom quickly!”
Jude quickly handed over a broom. Edna did not hesitate to hit down on Lydia with it. Lydia caught it without much effort. Her anger was overflowing and she could no longer control it. She broke the broom with one hand and fiercely threw it at Edna.
With two whooshing sounds, accompanied by Edna’s ear-piercing scream, Jude was so scared that she fell to the ground. Edna hugged her head and trembled. Julie covered her eyes.
A strange silence followed.
Lydia strode out of the Dunbar Residence.
In the main hall, Gail Dunbar coughed twice and cursed through the half-open glass door, “What are you shouting? Shut up!”
Edna turned around with lingering fear. Two broomsticks were stuck deep into the banana tree behind her, and green juice slowly flowed out of the tree.
Edna was so scared that her face turned pale. Julie hurried over to ask if she was hurt. Edna immediately burst into tears, crying and screaming that she will make Lydia pay the price for this.
Back in her apartment, Lydia drank a large bottle of water before she could suppress the anger in her heart. Seeing that it was getting late, she prepared to take a bath and go to bed.
As soon as she took off her clothes, a sound came from upstairs. It was a bit like someone was constantly trampling on the floor. Thinking that it might be a game her neighbors were playing, she thought that it would be over soon. Lydia continued with her bath.
The sound coming from upstairs got louder and louder. Music could even be vaguely heard. The texture of the sound was like someone striking the ground above violently and repeatedly, trying to disturb her.
After taking a shower, the sound still did not stop. Lydia put on her clothes and decided to read for a while. However, the sound continued and got so loud that she could not bring herself to read at all.
Lydia could not bear it anymore. She opened the door and walked upstairs.
She just happened to meet the landlord who seemed to have just returned. He was the landlord, Mowen Manson.
Mowen greeted Lydia with a weird look in his eyes. “Are you… going out? Your hair isn’t even dry yet…”
“It’s too noisy upstairs, I’m going to take a look.”
Lydia quickly went upstairs. Mowen stood at the stairway and watched Lydia slowly disappear up the stairs in her bathrobe. He could not help but swallow his saliva.
Lydia knocked on the door several times before the other party finally opened it. It was a bald middle-aged man. His originally arrogant expression immediately became flirtatious when he saw Lydia’s wet hair.
Water dripped from her hair into Lydia’s plump breasts. Although the thin bathrobe was very long, the front of her chest was completely soaked. Her two nipples were faintly visible as well, causing Bald Head to let out a small “wow”.
