MDITS Chapter 10
“T-This…”
“Amazing. From F-class to C-class in a flash.”
All the staff surrounding Cha Yeji exclaimed in awe.
The Hunter ID card in her hand now had the letter ‘C’ on it.
A few days ago during the Hunter Rating Assessment.
Cha Yeji, who was measured to have a stat with that of a D-class, achieved exemplar results during the C-class Rift Evaluation and was awarded with a C-class Hunter Certificate from the Hunter Management Agency.
“…Hehe. I’m kinda embarrassed.”
Cha Yeji bashfully scratched the back of her head.
She then glanced at Do-jun, who was writing a report about her results during the Hunter Rating Assessment.
It was all because of Do-jun that she was promoted immediately from F-class to C-class.
Honestly, she still felt like it was all just a dream.
‘I thought I’d be an F-class for the rest of my life…’
Kwon Hyuk-soo looked at Kang Chul-soo.
Surely he was happy, but his expression was somewhat dark.
And the reason was obvious.
“Hunter Cha Yeji.”
“Yes?”
“…Are you really fine with it?”
“With what?”
On Kwon Hyuk-soo’s monitor, several articles were circulating around the internet.
– Icarus Guild, rejected!
– Kang Min-hyuk’s “Highly Coveted Talent”
– Hunter Cha Yeji! Who is she?
The day after the Hunter Rating Assessment.
The news that Kang Min-hyuk wanted to recruit Cha Yeji to their guild became widespread on the internet.
B-class Hunters or below that entered the Icarus Guild would always become a hot topic, but the issue of Cha Yeji, a rank much lower, rejecting the Icarus Guild has pretty much turned all news media into a frenzy.
“Icarus Guild is one of the best guilds in Korea. To be honest, if I were you, I would’ve already accepted their offer without looking back. Of course, we also intend to provide you with both moral and material support so as to not disappoint you for staying with us. However, the classes are too different. This… It’s a once in a lifetime opportunity for you.”
After he was done reasoning with her,
Cha Yeji smiled and looked at Do-jun.
“You’ll do better, won’t you, Manager?”
“Of course. You won’t regret it.”
“Then, that’s enough for me.”
A smile then began to form on Kang Chul-soo’s mouth.
Then he slapped Do-jun’s shoulder, laughing wildly.
“Beef! Let’s have beef for dinner tonight!”
Kwon Hyuk-soo smiled at that scene.
In the Rift Management Department, the total number of Hunters they manage is only 17.
Among them, five are F-class, six are E-class, three are D-class.
And with Cha Yeji’s promotion, there are now three C-class hunters.
“If we do well, we might be able to manage at least one B-class Rift soon. With three C-class hunters, it’s certainly possible.”
Kwon Hyuk-soo muttered while looking at the data.
Currently, the City Hall has never accessed a B-class Rift or higher.
Of course, they wanted to manage one, however, they don’t have Hunters who could handle that level of difficulty.
In fact, <Great Rifts> which are Rifts assessed to have a rank of B-class or higher, were only managed by the Hunter Management Agency.
“But do you think they will easily hand it over to us? It is their prized possession after all – gatekeeping the Great Rifts.”
“I’ll send them an official letter of cooperation. We should at least meet them once in order to come into an agreement.”
“Okay, that’s it. Let’s get off work early today. Why don’t we eat beef today? It’s on me.”
At that moment,
Do-jun got up from his seat.
And naturally, all eyes turned towards him.
“I’ll be going to Daehan Workshop with Hunter Cha Yeji now.”
Daehan Workshop.
Located within the Hunter Management Agency, it is the largest Hunter Equipment Store in Korea.
A place where you could buy and sell suits, weapons, and other miscellaneous items or consumables that are essential to Hunters.
“Do-jun, I know you really wanted to support Ms. Yeji but we don’t have enough money to buy her an equipment now. We’ve already allocated the funds to the other Hunters, so why not wait until…”
“Don’t worry. We’re not buying something, we’re only picking it up.”
Do-jun said so with a smile.
* * *
Inside Daehan Workshop, there are different sectors/sections which classified the equipment and which are for sale.
Miscellaneous Goods <Zone 1>.
D-class Equipment and Lower <Zone 2>.
C-class to B-class Equipment <Zone 3>.
A-class Equipment and Higher <Zone 4>.
Zone 2 was the most crowded since most Hunters only ranked D-class or below.
Next was Zone 3, and finally, Zone 4 which only has few customers.
Zone 4 was the so-called ‘Luxury Hall’, where ordinary Hunters would not even dare to step on, as the price of a suit in there alone was at least 5 billion won.
And.
Currently standing in that ‘Luxury Hall’ were Do-jun and Cha Yeji.
Four days passed after winning the bet against Kang Min-hyuk, he got a message instructing him to mention his name in Zone 4 and take an A-class suit to their liking.
“I’m Lee Do-jun from the Rift Management Department. I came here because Hunter Kang Min-hyuk told me so.”
A slender, young, and beautiful employee then greeted Do-jun with a handshake.
As if she already knew he was coming, the employee smiled and guided him to where the suits were.
Do-jun and Cha Yeji then followed behind her.
“…Manager, you just thought of something bad right now, didn’t you?”
“If others heard you, they might misunderstand, so please stop joking around.”
“Tsk. That’s why men can’t get their heads together when they see a beautiful woman.”
Cha Yeji was sulking as she looked at him.
Do-jun sighed at her small tantrums.
Of course, the employee was a beauty, but he felt nothing for her.
It was all purely her assumptions. Besides, why does it matter to her if he really did or did not?
“You may take your time to look around the shop. If you need anything, just let me know. Well then, enjoy your shopping.”
After the employee left the two of them behind,
Cha Yeji’s eyes brightened.
She looked at all the suits displayed as if she was looking at fine art.
“Whoa! Manager, manager! Look at this! It’s a Silver-Winged Suit! I-I heard this one is really great. Apparently, it’s made from the wings of a Queen Ant monster. Wow…”
“This looks good. Would you like this one?”
Cha Yeji shook her head and put it back in its place.
Do-jun didn’t know.
That shopping with a woman.
Would actually be a daunting task.
* * *
Around 5 PM.
Do-jun was praising himself for following her around passing by the same area five times already.
A seven-hour shopping spree.
Of course, it included an hour of lunch in the middle, but it was still a long one.
“I’ll go with this one. Hehe.”
After a long time, she had finally come to a decision.
It was the <Silver-Winged Suit> which she first saw earlier.
Do-jun brooded over his despondency, wondering why he had been following her for seven hours when in the end, she still chose the one she saw first.
But when he saw Cha Yeji jumping around and rejoicing, that thought vanished into thin air.
‘Do you really like it that much?’
Do-jun went down to the first floor after sending a text message thanking Kang Min-hyuk.
Cha Yeji then followed behind him, hugging the case of her new suit tightly, not wanting to separate from it.
‘Hmm?’
At that moment, a sign caught Do-jun’s eyes.
<Only for today, 50% Big Sale!>
Various pieces of equipment, weapons, and items were mixed inside the wooden box with the sign.
Most of them were new equipment that failed to be sold ranging from E-class and below.
Still, their prices exceeded at least 1 million won each, which was already a large sum for Do-jun who only had a monthly salary of 3 million won.
‘There’s nothing…’
For a moment.
Do-jun doubted his own eyes.
Among the jumble of equipment was a sword.
Babump.
What was left of that sword was only its handle, with its blade cut off.
Although it was now quite embarrassing to even call it a sword, Do-jun still picked it up.
He then looked at the price tag which was tied to its handle.
– 50,000 won.
“How come…”
The sword who once ruled over the world.
The Heavenly Demon Sword.
Is this really it?
Tremble.
Do-jun’s hands were trembling.
“This is only worth 50,000 won?”
S-class.
No, SSS-class.
If it should have a ranking, then yes, it’s SSS-class.
Why in the world is this sword stuck in a corner and treated like this?!
“…Manager?”
Cha Yeji tilted her head as she looked at Do-jun who was standing still.
Looking at the sword he was holding which only had the handle left, she then frowned at its sight.
“Mister, isn’t this too much? Do you think there’s really someone who would pay for this piece of junk?”
“…What did you say?”
“Hiccup!”
At that moment, Cha Yeji’s heart almost stopped.
Boundless, dead cold eyes.
Even though she barely met his gaze, it reminded her of the word, death.
“Ah.”
Do-jun hastily repressed his powerful aura that he accidentally emanated without realizing.
Cha Yeji’s legs lost their strength and flopped down on the floor.
“I-I’m sorry.”
“…Hiccup.”
“Can you get up?”
Do-jun reached out his hand.
He now had an amiable face unlike earlier.
Cha Yeji doubted if what she saw was really Do-jun.
‘I-I must have seen it wrong, right?’
Tak.
Cha Yeji held Do-jun’s hand and got up.
After helping Cha Yeji up, Do-jun looked around hastily for the clerk and approached him.
“Sir.”
“Yes. Are you looking for something in particular, sir?”
“This. Is this really 50,000 won?”
“…Haha. That’s, uh… it’s a bit weird, right? I’m sorry. This came along with the other equipment from the warehouse… it’s not exactly saleable, isn’t it?”
Do-jun quickly took out a 50,000-won bill from his wallet and handed it to the clerk.
“I’ll take it.”
“Eh?! A-are you really gonna buy this? I wouldn’t pay that much for a scrap metal with only its hilt left…”
“It’s fine. I’m satisfied with it.”
Very satisfied.
* * *
After climbing a nearby mountain, Do-jun looked down at the night view and laughed dejectedly.
Remembering his life in Murim, he opened his eyes as they called him ‘Heavenly Demon’ the most feared man in all of Murim.
“My sword – the most powerful of all, was just given a price of 50,000 won.”
Why is the Heavenly Demon Sword on Earth, when it should have been sealed at the Heavenly Demon Sect in Murim?
Do-jun used his Heavenly Demon Cultivation skill and injected his inner qi into the sword.
The sword then began to resonate.
At the same time, the surrounding air dropped heavily, and the heaven and earth began to tremble.
Rumble!
A pitch-black qi appeared from its handle.
Every time the moonlight shines on the sword, the qi glistened.
“Tsk.”
Do-jun collected back the inner qi from the sword.
And then it returned back to its original form, which was only a handle.
“Ah, right.”
As Do-jun did not attend the dinner party, he glanced at his wristwatch in worry that Seol Yoon-hee might be eating alone at home. By now, she should be waiting for him after preparing dinner.
Do-jun then disappeared from the mountain in an instant.
* * *
– Breaking news. At around 7:20 PM today, a Great Rift was detected in Umyeon Mountain and suddenly disappeared. The Rift Wave figures were immeasurable and it is estimated to be an S-class Rift. The Hunter Management Agency immediately investigated Umyeon Mountain as soon as the Rift was detected but found no abnormalities, some responded that the Rift Detection equipment may have malfunctioned.
Seol Yoon-hee, who was watching the news, was surprised.
“F-father! Umyeon Mountain is just nearby!”
“It looks like a Temporary Rift just like last time. Be careful for the time being.”
“…Yes, I will. Take care of yourself, too.”
Do-jun tilted his head.
‘That’s strange. I was just there at that time… so why didn’t I felt…?’
Seol Yoon-hee looked at Do-jun’s complexion which was beginning to darken.
“Father? You don’t look well.”
“Oh, i-it’s nothing.”
Do-jun thought he shouldn’t take out the Heavenly Demon Sword carelessly now.
