Chapter 16: Contract

(Daniel’s P.O.V.]
Iwas a little unhappy when Grimm hired the woman I saved into the company. I did not agree with what he did.
Why did he not just send the girl in shock back to her home so she could recuperate?
‘What kind of cultural element was she trying to build in Empress Alley? That’s something that even the best employees of the company have a hard time picking up. That is too much to ask a girl who’s just experienced both physical and psychological trauma!
This woman, Martina, gave me a mother-like sense of security. I really did not want to embarrass her in the meeting room.
A maid who was kidnapped and sold by a gang of thieves did not seem like a person who understood business.
Her performance was similar to what I had expected. She started by recounting the reason for my meeting. It seemed like she had said a lot, but in fact, she had not said anything at all. She had even said it in a serious manner, which made me laugh.
However, what she said after proved that she was not an ordinary maid. To be honest, it was not that I had not thought about rebuilding Empress Alley, but it was easier said than done. No decision-maker would agree to a large-scale project with uncertain returns, and no one knew when the cost would
be recouped.
Martina was able to bring out the thoughts in my mind, and I was really curious as to what she had in mind.
So when I heard about Werewolf Cultural Street, I froze.
I worked hard every day, leaving early and returning late, building my own business empire for the benefit of my employees. I drowned myself with work so that I would forget my roots of being a werewolf.
After spending so much time in the human world, I really missed home. Even though my alpha father had personally ordered me to be banished, I still missed him. I missed Barbara, I missed Rogers, I missed Charlie… I missed all my friends and family. This vision of Martina’s reminded me of my deepest
homesickness.
She was right. I could build a werewolf world in the human world. I could not go home, but I build a home here
I tried my best to calm my excited heart and said with certainty, “It’s a very good idea. I think it can be implemented.”
Grimm had always been on my side. I chose to pass, so he naturally raised his hands in approval.
This was a huge project after all. Even if I agreed out of selfishness, my dutiful employees would still oppose it.
“President, it’s too hasty to pass this proposal just like that. What Miss Martina proposed was only an idea at most. There is no concrete implementation plan at all. Moreover, our topic was about the abandonment of the stores in Empress’s Alley, not the construction of Werewolf Cultural Street.”
“Empress’s Alley is poor and dilapidated. The investment may not be worth it.”
“Yes, President. It’s just an idea. The feasibility isn’t high. I don’t agree with this.”
“There are some business companies that haven’t been involved yet. Whether to expand or upgrade the industry needs to be considered.”
‘What they said made a lot of sense. I wanted a home, a pack, but this home could definitely not be built in a day. The huge project was bound to affect all of the current business of the company. As the company’s highest decision-maker, I had to consider every aspect carefully.
Martina was not discouraged when she heard the objection, she proposed a strategy instead to counter.
“Building a commercial street is the ultimate goal. As of now, we can use some small stores as a pilot to build a werewolf cultural brand. When it becomes well-known, it won’t be too late to expand.”
“Sure, I’ll appoint you as the store manager of Empress’s Alley now. You’ll decide what to run. Only within three months at the latest, I want to see the return.”
Martina did not expect me to agree so quickly. She covered her mouth in shock and looked at me. After she reacted, she bowed repeatedly at me.
‘What did I disagree with? Martina seemed like a special person. The plan she proposed happened to be what I wanted to do the most in my heart. It was like I had a spiritual connection with her.
So even if she was a kidnapped maid, I gave her the task of revitalizing the shop in Empress’s Alley.
Ahero did not ask about others’ backgrounds. A truly capable person only needed to be given a stage to perform, and they would definitely be able to realize their own value.
Unfortunately, I was not sure about Martina’s business ability. Although I had saved her, I had never thought of making her work for me. I still needed her to sign a letter of commitment to the company before this whole project commences.
“Grimm, draw up a contract. Martina has 500,000 initial funds to redo the shops in Empress’s Alley, but after three months, I want her to reach a hundred percent return profit margin. If she can do that, she can continue to be the store manager of Empress Ally, and start the Werewolf Cultural Street as
the overall project leader. If she can’t do it, she will work for the company for free. She will compensate the company for the losses caused by the initial investment until it is paid back.”
I looked at Martina. “Do you have anything else to add?”
Martina shook her head. Grimm brought the contract over five minutes later. She read the contract carefully and signed her name solemnly. Then, she extended her hand to me.
“Daniel, thank you for your trust.”
