Chapter 58: First Blind Date
Lin Yao didn’t want to go home, but she had nowhere else to go. While she was wandering aimlessly, she received a call from Shan Qing again.
It was quite a coincidence. Just that morning, Lin Yao was thinking about whether or not she should go on a date or something. In the afternoon, Shan Qing called, and in such a situation.
Perhaps it was God’s will for her to go on a blind date as well?
Lin Yao had no intention of going on a blind date to find a boyfriend, but, so what if she went on a blind date? If they got along well, they could continue to meet up. If they didn’t get along well, she didn’t need to see him again, so it was quite simple.
Lin Yao hesitated for a moment but decided to answer the phone.
This time, she didn’t reject Shan Qing’s proposal, but she didn’t expect anything from it either.
Lin Yao didn’t intend to tell Jiang Mingshu about this. If she knew that she was going on a blind date, Lin Yao would never hear the end of it.
In reality, even she herself thought it was hilarious. The reason she agreed to go on a blind date was that Li Shulan’s parents came + Jiang Mingshu went to Qiandao Lake to climb mountains = nothing to do.
However, when Lin Yao saw the “young and promising handsome young man” that Shan Qing spoke about, she couldn’t laugh anymore.
After the handsome young man reserved a spot in the restaurant, he rushed over there in advance and waited for her by the road. When Lin Yao got out of the taxi, he took the initiative to step forward, and then extended his hand over Lin Yao’s head to act like her protector.
As a rookie, Lin Yao had never seen anyone act like this.
She was caught off guard!
Being squished on the bus all year round trained her to be agile, so she was able to swerve to the side quickly, and she escaped his grasp, as far away as she could.
The young man suddenly froze.
Lin Yao also realized that she was overreacting, but she was quite appalled by his appearance. Lin Yao just wanted to be as far away from him as possible!
The young man didn’t seem to take it seriously, and he introduced himself with a smile on his face. “Hello Miss Lin, my surname is Liang. I’m Chen Qing’s friend.”
It was Lin Yao’s turn to be shocked.
The young man in front of her was about thirty to forty years old and was about half a head taller than Lin Yao. He was a little overweight, had a big round face + chubby face, dark rough skin + oily skin, flat nose bridge + bulbous nose + nose hair sticking out…
His appearance could be summed up in four words: short, fat, black, dwarfish.
The legendary 360-degree dead angle probably looked like this. Lin Yao swore that she had never seen a person who looked uglier than the person in front of her eyes in her entire life!
Lin Yao had the urge to run away, but she was the one who had agreed to the blind date with him, so even if she ended up in tears she had to finish the date, right?
Their blind date took place in a high-end western restaurant. As for his reason behind choosing to dine here, the other person was allegedly a “Haigui”, the kind who went and lived abroad.
Did they have to eat Western food just because he used to live abroad? Lin Yao secretly loathed this Liang person from the bottom of her heart.
In the midst of the melodious and soothing music, the waiter took them to a dining table by the window.
The young man walked to Lin Yao’s side and pulled the chair out for her.
Lin Yao once again showed off her agility. She quickly swerved to the side, went to the opposite side, then pulled out a chair for herself, and sat down.
The waiter who came to serve them their menus witnessed the scene and was completely dumbfounded.
The young man froze again. After about two to three seconds, he regained his composure and adjusted his facial expression. Still smiling, he sat down calmly.
This was Lin Yao’s first time at this western restaurant, and the words on the menu looked like English, but also didn’t, somehow.
Moreover, even if she did speak English, it didn’t necessarily mean that she could order food in English.
After all, the English vocabulary for business English and college English was completely different from the names of the dishes on the menu.
She didn’t know how to order food, so she let the other person help her order, and the other person didn’t hold back at all. He promptly ordered food for the two of them, along with a bottle of red wine.
An alarm went off inside Lin Yao. What did he mean by drinking alcohol at their first meeting?
She made up her mind. No matter what happened next, she wouldn’t drink no matter what, and wouldn’t drink even if she was threatened to be beaten to death!
The waiter took their orders, and then he retreated.
The young man rubbed his hands, leaned on the chair, and smiled gently as he said, “Miss Lin’s full name is Lin Yao? How about I call you Xiao Yao or Yaoyao in the future?”
His words gave Lin Yao goosebumps. “Sister Shan always called me Xiao Lin, you can also call me Xiao Lin.”
The young man smiled slightly. “Hello, Xiao Lin. Nice to meet you, please take care of me in the future!”
He said “in the future”, meaning there would be a next time?
Perhaps her answer made the other person mistakenly believe that he left a good impression on her?
Lin Yao regretted it. Why did she answer him so readily?
Afterward, in line with the principle of saying more meant more mistakes and saying less meant fewer, Lin Yao tried not to answer him.
As for politeness, she couldn’t care less. After all, what she wanted was for this blind date to end in failure!
“There’s something I have to explain.” The young man smiled lightly. “When I pulled the chairs for you before, I wasn’t trying to be offensive, but rather in the Western restaurants, it’s basic etiquette for men to pull out the chairs for women.”
After he finished his words, the young man signaled her to look to the other side of the restaurant. A man with his back to them was pulling out the chair for a tall, beautiful blond woman.
The beautiful girl smiled and thanked him, then sat down.
The man waited for the beautiful woman to sit down before the waiter pulled out his chair, and he sat down opposite her.
From a distance, the golden couple consisting of a handsome man and beautiful woman was extremely aesthetically pleasing.
However, no matter how aesthetically pleasing they were, she couldn’t possibly keep staring at them, so Lin Yao tore her gaze away. When her eyes inadvertently caught a glimpse of the man across from her, she felt as if her eyes were burnt by something, and felt extremely uncomfortable!
This was probably the visual impact and discomfort caused by the strong contrast, and she quickly looked away.
Lin Yao had once thought that Zhou Meilin was already ugly to the extreme. She never expected that she would meet someone even uglier than her in her lifetime, and for this person to actually be her blind date!
She could only let this sort of thing rot inside of her. She couldn’t let anyone ever find out!
As for the Tianfeng company…
Shan Qing clearly knew that she valued physical appearance, but she had to introduce this extremely ugly “handsome young man” to her. What did she mean by this?
Could it be that only by dating an ugly man could she truly prove that she was over Qin Wenyuan?
Or was it that since her feelings were hurt, she should renounce herself and only date ugly men from now on?
Lin Yao always sensed that Shan Qing had ill intentions…
Perhaps she really didn’t need to contact anyone from Tianfeng Company from now on.
This so-called blind date didn’t need to be continued either.
The problem was, their meals were already ordered…
******
On the other side of the restaurant, Qin Rongze gazed at a couple not that far away with an ambivalent expression.
Lin Yao looked very similar to Cheng Jiaoqian when she wasn’t wearing makeup, so when he saw Lin Yao and the man across from her, he felt a complex mix of emotions.
The beautiful blonde woman sitting across from him also sensed that something was wrong. “Roy, what’s up?”
Only then did Qin Rongze snap back to reality, and he motioned for her to continue, but he still couldn’t control his eyes from drifting away.
